One of the legends says that the Gruta do Carimbado in São Thomé das Letras, leads the city of Machu Picchu in Peru. It is suspected that this would explain the mysterious disappearance of the Incas who inhabited the Andes and would have come to São Thomé until the Cave of the Carimbado. Another theory is that there is a portal in the cave and energy transports to another dimension. No one yet came to the end of the cave to answer that question.

Next to Gruta do Carimbado, the Ladeira do Amendoim is a curious place where the vehicles, with the engine off, continue climbing the slope. This fact helps to foster beliefs about the existence of a large, triangle-shaped magnetic field below ground.
Walking backwards can also feel the same pressure effect.
